Eagle Band 2012 Meeting Tuesday, April 24

There will be a Student/Parent Eagle Band Info Meeting on Tuesday, April 24 at 7:00 in the EAST COMMONS. Lots of info will be shared about the upcoming Eagle Band 2012-13 season. Registration forms, dates of shows and games will be available, and information about show music and show shirts will be revealed. Registration money can also be turned in at this meeting. Bring your checkbook and your calendar!

If your student is planning to participate in Eagle Band next year, you should know that Registration Forms, along with the first payment, are due on Friday, April 27th. If you’d like to fill out your registration form in advance of Tuesday’s meeting, you can find it HERE.

Unfortunately due to the amount of information scheduled for this meeting it was not possible to combine it with the BPO Meeting on Monday, April 23rd. PLEASE PLAN TO ATTEND BOTH MEETINGS.

Memory Book Due Date Changed

Eagle Band Photo Memory Book orders and ads were originally due next Friday, October 7th. Because there is no school that day, we are extending the deadline to Saturday, October 8th, allowing for a convenient drop off at Prairie Colors. We will put a drop off box near the Volunteer check-in table that evening. If your Eagle Band member didn’t bring home the info, you can find links to it below, as well as links to sample ads and instructions.  If you’ve never seen the memory book and aren’t sure what to do for an ad, make sure to check these out.

Also, we could use one or two more people to help with traffic control during section and senior pictures – 5:00 to 6:15 on October 8th. If you are available and willing, contact Anne Walbrun at memorybook@edenprairiebpo.org.

Weekend Band Events

The Eagle Band will be performing on Friday, September 9th at the home football game against Bloomington Kennedy.  We could still use more uniform helpers for the home football games. Click here to sign up.

If you’re at the home football games anyway, why not volunteer to sell activity passes. Passes are sold from 6:30 until halftime, and you’ll finish up in time to see the band. Band parents make money for the band by selling passes, so you’ll be supporting the band twice! Click here to sign up.

Parents should have received an email from Mr. Palmer with the schedule for Saturday. If you’re planning to watch either of the competitions, don’t forget to watch the helpful Audience Applause Guide first. It can be found here. We want our Colorguard to look its best, so we are still looking for additional Performance Flag makers. The group that met on Tuesday made good progress, but they need helpers of all skill levels to meet the Saturday performance deadline. Please consider joining us from 6 – 9pm on Thursday, September 8th.

Upcoming BPO Events

Mark your calendars — you won’t want to miss any of these events!

The Eden Prairie combined Eagle Band and Blue Devils Band will be marching in the parade at the Minnesota State Fair on opening day, August 25th at 2:00pm. Come out and cheer on your students!

Saturday, August 27th 10:00am to 5:00pm – Eagle Band Drumline Car Wash Fundraiser in the parking lot at Walgreen’s located on the northeast corner of Hwy.5 and Eden Prairie Road.  Tell all your friends and neighbors to stop by for a car wash! Also, to facilitate the car wash, the drumline is asking for towel donations starting Monday, Aug. 20th. There will be a large blue collection bin for your car wash quality towels located by the Band Room. Thank you!

Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 6:00pm is the first BPO meeting of the school year.  Because we are expecting a large turnout, it will be held in the Old Commons at EPHS.  We especially want to welcome incoming 9th grade parents and any parents of older students who have never been to a BPO meeting. Come see what the BPO is all about.

Following the BPO meeting on Tuesday, August 30th, the BPO will be hosting a Parent Social at 7:00 near the Dome Field. Then at 8:00pm, the Eagle Band will perform its show in full uniform for its most enthusiastic audience of the season – the Band Parents! Please note that you do not need to have a child in the Eagle Band to attend – all BPO members, grandparents, alumni, Wind Ensemble, 9th and 10th grade Concert Band students are welcome.  It will be the band’s first run-through of the show in full uniform.  If you’ve seen this Preview Night before, you know it’s stunning to watch. Come on out and join us.
