The Eden Prairie BPO is producing a cookbook! This will be a fundraiser for the band programs at all levels, so we need everybody’s help. Cookbook editor Ann Walbrun is asking for your recipe submissions from now until Friday, June 8th. Recipes — as many as you’d like to submit — can be emailed to epbandcooks@gmail.com. Who can submit recipes? Band students in grades 5 – 12 and their families, Guard members in grades 8 – 12 and their families, band directors and even band alumni! You can find out more information HERE.

Just to sweeten the pie, so to speak, there will be an Early Bird special for anybody who submits their recipes by Friday, May 18th. For each recipe submitted, your name will go into a drawing to take place during Pasta & Pops on Saturday, May 19th. Three lucky winners will receive a free copy of the cookbook when it is available next Fall as well as an item (TBD) from the Spirit Store. Now there’s a contest you can really sink your teeth into!

Is your student planning to participate in Band Camp, Eagle Band, the China Tour, private lessons, or other extra-curricular band activities that cost you money? It can really add up, and the BPO would like to help.

Right now, and ongoing through March 16th, band students can choose to participate in the Bachman’s Gift Card fundraiser. Students will take orders and collect money for Bachman’s Gift Cards up until Friday, March 16th. The cards will be available for delivery on Wednesday, March 28th – before Spring Break. Customers pay for and receive the full face value of the card (for example, a $25 card costs $25.00), but Bachman’s sells them to EPHS Bands at a discount. Band students get to keep that difference in their student band accounts.

Most students find this to be a fairly easy sell. Many people will choose to go to Bachman’s for things like Prom corsages and boutonnieres, Easter flowers, spring planting, cut flowers, Mother’s Day and, of course, their unique gifts. Maybe it’s time to replace those shrubs that are looking tired. It’s not hard to convince people to pay in advance for something they are going to buy anyway – especially if it’s for a good cause. The cards also make good gifts — grandmas love them!

Your student should have received information during their Friday, February 24th band class. If they didn’t bring home the form, or if you need an additional one, please click HERE to print one.

Band Students are currently selling tickets for our Fall Raffle! Five dollars buys you the chance to win one of five great prizes:
- A pair of 50 yard line, 13th row tickets to see Christian Ponder and the Minnesota Vikings vs. the Denver Broncos on December 4th PLUS an NFL-licensed Premier Adrian Peterson Jersey
(2 sets given away)
- A $100 gift card to the winner’s choice of: Home Depot, Target or Best Buy
(3 cards given away)

Tickets are available from students through November 4th. The drawing will be held at the 9th Grade, Concert Band Ensemble and Wind Ensemble concert on Monday, November 7th.

Please support our band students and the BPO by purchasing a ticket!

Mark your calendars — you won’t want to miss any of these events!

Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 6:00pm is the first BPO meeting of the school year.  Because we are expecting a large turnout, it will be held in the Old Commons at EPHS.  We especially want to welcome incoming 9th grade parents and any parents of older students who have never been to a BPO meeting. Come see what the BPO is all about.

Following the BPO meeting on Tuesday, August 30th, the BPO will be hosting a Parent Social at 7:00 near the Dome Field. Then at 8:00pm, the Eagle Band will perform its show in full uniform for its most enthusiastic audience of the season – the Band Parents! Please note that you do not need to have a child in the Eagle Band to attend – all BPO members, grandparents, alumni, Wind Ensemble, 9th and 10th grade Concert Band students are welcome.  It will be the band’s first run-through of the show in full uniform.  If you’ve seen this Preview Night before, you know it’s stunning to watch. Come on out and join us.

Finally, don’t forget to check out the new Gallery feature on our website. You are welcome to contribute your favorite band photos from the 2011-2012 school year.

Even though it’s hard to believe right now, summer is just around the corner. And what could be better than a beautiful July afternoon at Target Field?  How about a Twins game that also raises money for the BPO?

James Werdin of Access-Corporate 4 Insurance Agency, along with EPBPO and the Minnesota Twins invite you to join us at this year’s 1st annual Eden Prairie Marching Band Day with the Twins on July 23, 2011 at 3:10pm at Target Field.

Enjoy the game in home run porch seats located in section 333 or home plate view seats in sections 312-317.   There are only 500 seats available to this sold out game.  Order today as the seats are first come, first served!  We will make every attempt to seat your family or friends as close together as possible.  Please note any seat requests on your order form.

Cost:  Just $30 per seat in 333 or $35 in sections 312-317.  There is a $5 handling charge per order.  Nearly $7 for each ticket sold donated to the EP Marching Band.  Hurry, as the order deadline is June 27th, 2011, or earlier if the tickets sell out sooner.

Visit http://epmarchingband.zapevent.com to order your tickets online. Tickets will be mailed out to you in advance of the game.  Direct any questions to webmaster@edenprairiebpo.org.

Just to clarify, the band is not playing at the game, but if we’re really lucky, they might announce us on the scoreboard!

Here’s a printable flyer to share with your friends and family. Please help us sell out these tickets and move the Eagle Band one step closer to making its new trailer a reality!

EPHS band students will have the opportunity to sell Bachman’s gift cards for a band fundraiser. 15% of the value of the cards sold will go in to each student’s individual account to be used for band camp, tours, marching band fees, ensembles, etc.

Students can sell the Bachman’s gift cards at face value in 4 different denominations ($10 – $50). The selling period goes from now until April 20, 2011. Students will have the gift cards in hand to distribute to their customers by Monday, May 2nd – plenty of time for Mother’s Day, Prom, Spring Planting, Teacher gifts, etc.

Students wishing to participate can pick up a Bachman’s fundraiser flyer and order form from their band director, or you can print them from the links below:

DQ Fundraiser for EPHS Band

Treat the kids to DQ after their concert on March 22nd – bring their siblings and Grandma too! Remember, even band students who are not playing that night still have to do a concert review, so why not make a fun night out of it? Spread the word to neighbors and friends, too.

No flyer or coupon is required for the band to receive 10% of sales. Thank you, Dairy Queen!
