The Eden Prairie Winterguard is hosting its annual Prairie Colors Show on Saturday, March 24th starting at 6:30pm in the Main Gym at Eden Prairie High School. This is the last show before State Finals, so every school is going to be in top form — you won’t want to miss it! The cost is just $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and seniors which buys you a whole night of entertainment.

That same day, Eden Prairie is also hosting the annual Solo and Ensemble Competition beginning at 4:00pm. Admission for this competition is free, and many of our students will be performing. Please come out and support them, and don’t forget to grab a snack while you’re there!

Winterguard Prairie Colors is March 26, 2011 starting at 6:30pm in the EPHS Gym.

Urgent! Help is needed with selling concessions. It is a big event and huge fundraiser for our color guard. They are still looking for several people for each of the following shifts: 5:00 – 7:00 pm, 7:00 – 9:00 pm, and 9:00 pm until end of event and clean up. Please contact Karen Westerberg at westchad@aol.com or 612-242-8283. Volunteers can be high school students. Sign up with Karen and there is also a posting in SLIC for volunteer credits.

If March 26th doesn’t work for you, consider other ways you can volunteer. See the latest issue of Stay Tuned for more info.

The BPO is looking for a few good men and women (and possibly their teenagers as well) to help with some upcoming events:

Winterguard Prairie Colors – March 26, 2011 We have a record number of competing units signed up this year, so many that the Northstar Circuit in which we compete has moved the Solo and Ensemble Competition to EPHS on the same day. As a result, the Winterguard is requesting volunteers to sell concessions and fill other jobs. An email will be sent out soon that specifies the shifts that still need helpers.

Pasta & Pops – May 21, 2011 Chairperson Fran Stolz is looking for a few key positions to help the day run smoothly.

  • Volunteer Coordinator – This is someone who keeps track of and direct volunteers the day of the concert.
  • Beverage Coordinator – Someone to send out letters to local businesses in advance, and fills water jugs on concert day
  • Host/Hostess – Someone to shadow Fran, who is the mom of a senior, to take over in the evening so that she can watch her student, and possibly to learn the ropes for next year

For more information, email Fran at pops@edenprairiebpo.org

Prairie Colors Golf Classic – July 18, 2011 Chairperson Mike Stolz would like some help in the following areas:

  • Shadow – Mike’s daughter is a senior and he’s looking for someone to take over the event next year.  One-on-one training is provided for the job, which Mike says is pretty easy.
  • Recruiting Sponsors – Paul Lundeen is heading up this effort and he’d like more crew members.
  • Silent Auction – Both items and workers are needed.
  • Promotion – Someone to be in charge of promoting the event in the community.

BPO Executive Board Members and Chairpersons – 2011/2012 School Year

It’s not to early to be thinking about how you can participate in the BPO.  Many of our positions are held by parents of seniors, and our policy is to rotate people every two years if possible. We are especially anxious to get more parents of 9th and 10th graders involved. If you are interested in any of the positions or want to know more information, contact Mary Beth Rissmann at president@edenprairiebpo.org.
